The office of the Resident State Attorney in Matugga on Thursday sanctioned allegations of grievous harm against the two suspects named Tong and Song Cheng Bao, for allegedly assaulting Male Muhammad.
Kampala Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire says on October 1 , Muhammad, a driver by profession was at his place of work in Migo Matuga at a factory that makes Gumboots, when his boss Tong told him to join off loaders and he declined.
“The victim alleges that his two bosses started assaulting him for rejecting their orders and he consequently reported the matter to Matuga Police station where it was investigated and the bosses arrested,” says the police mouthpiece.
The suspects were briefly arrested before being released on Police bond. But Owoyesigire says today, the file has been sanctioned against the suspects on allegations of Grievous Harm.
“They will consequently be re-arrested and presented before the Grade 1 Magistrate Matuga as soon as possible,” he said “The Police would like to emphasize that the rights of workers should at alltime be protected by their employers. We appeal to all workers to use the necessary offices like the Police and the Ministry of Labour and Social Development to report abusers of their rights for proper action.”
