Ntugasaze, MYDA promoted to FUFA Big League

• Proline 0-2 Ntugasaze (Agg: 2-3)

• MYDA 2-0 Busei FC (Aggregate: 2-0)

Buganda Regional League champions Ntugasaze Football Club sportingly secured promotion to the 2024/25 FUFA Big League.

Coached by Ddungu Simon, Ntugasaze ousted Kampala Regional League champions Proline FC 2-0 in the return leg of the promotional playoff at the Phillip Omondi stadium in Lugogo on Thursday.

Kimera capitalized on a ball melee to latch the ball at the back of the net when Proline defenders failed to avert a teasing cornerkick at the stroke of halftime (45’+3).

Michael Kimera and Calvin Peter Emayo scored a goal each in either half to overturn the first-leg deficit when they lost 1-2 at home.

On the 75th minute, Emayo sent a stunning freekick from outside the box that skipped the fingertips of goalkeeper Musa Semakula to set fans into frenzy moods.

Ntungasaze joins the Malabba Youth Development Association (MYDA) as the second team to seal Big League promotion from the third division.

MYDA FC beat Busei FC from Iganga 2-0 on aggregate in the decisive promotional playoff final played between champions from the North East (MYDA) and Eastern regional league winners (BUSEI).

Innocent Opira and John Brian Otim scored in either half for MYDA, who earned a berth in the second-tier division as they target a return to the top flight where they once featured a few seasons ago.

Two more slots are up for grabs to complete the puzzle of four teams promoted to the Big League from the Regional League.

Buhimba Saints (Kitara region) will play NTODA FC (Western region) in the return leg this Friday to determine the third team to seal Big League promotion. The first leg ended goalless.

On Sunday, Paidha Black Angels (West Nile) will play Northern Gateway in the battle of the final slot available. The match is tied at 0-0.
