One Dead in Ntinda Mobile Money Raid

A mobile money raid in Ntinda, along Kigowa Road, has left one person dead and another injured, according to the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Oweyesigyire.

Police responded to the scene on Thursday evening, describing the incident as an aggravated robbery.

“Tragically, one person has been confirmed dead, and another sustained injuries. Further details will be provided as soon as possible,” Oweyesigyire said.

Reports suggest that the deceased might be Tugume Albert Cook, a mobile money operator and brother to Kampala’s Deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura.

Nyanjura took to social media platform X to share the tragic news.

“My brother Tugume Albert Cook has been abducted at gunpoint from Central Road, Ntinda Kigowa Road. One person has been shot dead. He operates a mobile money shop,” Nyanjura posted. Minutes later, she confirmed her brother’s death, writing, “My brother has been killed.”

At the time of reporting, police had yet to confirm the identity of the deceased. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full details of the incident.
