Dokolo By-election: FDC Fronts Cecilia Ogwal’s Daughter

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has unveiled Dr. Rosemary Alwoc, daughter to deceased Dokolo woman MP Cecilia Ogwal, as their Flagbearer in the forthcoming Dokolo District Woman MP By-election.

Dr. Alwoc was unveiled as the Flagbearer on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, to replace her deceased mother Cecilia Ogwal.

According to FDC, the decision was reached following discussions with party leaders and family members of the late Cecilia Ogwal. The party adds that they reached consensus among their members not to hold primaries, but to give the flag to the deceased’s daughter.

“While there were members of the party who expressed interest in contesting, the decision to support Dr. Olwoc follows discussions between the party leadership, the family of the late Hon. Cecilia Atim Ogwal, and FDC members in Dokolo. Instead of holding primary elections, the party reached a consensus among its members,” the party posted on X.

FDC adds that Rosemary Ogwal, besides being a daughter to the deceased, is of exceptional quality and has sacrificed her comfort to continue with the works of the fallen Cecilia Ogwal.

“Dr. Olwoc Rosemary Ogwal is not only the daughter of Imat Cecilia Ogwal but also a candidate of exceptional quality. She has willingly sacrificed her comfort to continue the initiatives that Imat Cecilia Ogwal was deeply passionate about,” the post further reads.

The Dokolo woman MP seat fell vacant following the death of the former Dokolo District Woman MP, Cecilia Ogwal, on January 18, 2024.
