Dokolo By-election: 7 Pick Nomination Forms

The nomination of candidates ahead of the Dokolo constituency by-election commenced on Monday, March 11, 2024.

At least seven candidates are expected to return nomination forms.

The two-day exercise opened by the presiding officer, Stephen Ngobi saw NRM aspirant Rose Adongo Elau nominated first, followed by Sarah Aguti Nyangkori (UPC), independent candidate Dr. Esther Akullu Obit, and FDC’s Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal.

The other three aspirants whose nominations are still underway include the National Unity Platform’s Ageno Harriet Nenidiro, independent candidates Rebecca Arao, and Dr. Anna Grace Lalam.

Speaking shortly after her nomination, NRM candidate Adongo Elau promised to work together with the people of Dokolo to ensure the social and economic transformation of the people in her constituency.

“I have the pleasure to hold the NRM ticket and promise to work together with the people of Dokolo to ensure the social and economic transformation of our people,” she said.

The Dokolo Woman MP seat fell vacant following the death of Cecilia Ogwal in January, and the by-election aimed at finding her successor has been slated for March 21, 2024.

Among those eyeing the seat is the deceased’s daughter, Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, who was unanimously chosen as the FDC flagbearer so that she continues with the works of the late Cecilia Ogwal.

The nominated candidates will be allowed to campaign in their constituency from March 13 to 19 prior to the March 21 polls, where only one of them will emerge as the winner.
