President Museveni Arrives at Kyambogo University for Graduation of First Swahili Language Proficiency Students
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has arrived at Kyambogo University to preside over the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of students to complete a Swahili language proficiency program. A total of 304 students, who undertook the one-year course, are set to graduate today.
This graduation marks a significant milestone in the promotion of Kiswahili, a language that has been increasingly recognized across East Africa as a key tool for regional integration and cooperation. The program at Kyambogo University is part of a broader national strategy to enhance Uganda’s participation in the East African Community (EAC), where Kiswahili is one of the official languages.
The event is expected to highlight the importance of language proficiency in fostering unity and facilitating communication within the EAC, with President Museveni advocating for the continued growth of Kiswahili education across Uganda.
