Unknown assailants have hacked an elderly woman to death in Nkooko town Council in Kakumiro district. The assailants stormed the residence of 80-year-old Patricia Nakabazi in Nkooko cell at an unknown time on Monday night and hacked her to death.
Residents became suspicious when they waited in vain for the deceased to open her door on Tuesday morning. This compelled her neighbors to check on her only to find her door locked from the outside. Residents mobilized and broke the door.
They found the deceased’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood inside her house. The body had deep cuts on the head, neck, face, and waist. They immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the crime scene.
Joseph Kasujja, a resident says that the late Nakabazi was last seen in good health on Monday evening. “This is an elderly woman who was staying peacefully with us. She didn’t have any misunderstandings with anybody in our area. How can they brutally murder her like this? “asked Kasujja.
Sarah Nambasa, another resident says that Nakabaz’s brutal murder has triggered panic among residents. He wants the police to investigate the matter and apprehend the killers. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, says that investigations into the murder have commenced.
He says that police picked up the deceased’s body and conveyed it to Kakumiro health center IV for postmortem. Hakiza has appealed to the general public to cooperate with the police by providing crucial information that could lead to the arrest and detention of the assailants.
